Slithering Snakes up your back, slithering snakes down your back…do you remember that rhyme that you would chant as you gave someone the chills on their back? Well, growing up me and my girlfriends would always do this to each other…maybe it was a fad or just something fun to do at parties. Either way, it always worked! The rhyme went something like this (or a variation of this):
Going on a treasure hunt (drawing a spiral ring around the back)
X marks the spot (marking an X on back)
Creeping crawlers up your back (use both hands to crawl up the back)
Creeping crawlers down your back (use both hands to crawl down the back)
Slithering Snakes up your back (mimic snakes crawling up the back with fingers)
Slithering Snakes down your back (mimic snakes crawling down the back with fingers)
Ten knives in your back (stick all ten fingers hard into the back)
Feel the blood rushing down (rub hands down the back)
(Repeat this step again)
Crack an egg on your head (hit the top of the head with a fist)
Feel the yoke rushing down (rub hands down head & neck)
(Repeat this step again)
Tight Squeeze (squeeze and pinch the shoulders tight)
Cool Breeze (blow on neck)
Now you got the chill bumps!!!
So when I went to work and wore these snake earrings, this rhyme popped back into my head. I just love my vintage slithering snakes…
