Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong decade…I literally find myself drawn to other periods of time, either through music (I adore Billie Holiday), movies (one of my favorites – Rear Window) or in this case FASHION. I just love flowy skirts and dresses and often find myself day-dreaming of meeting my husband after school at the HOP as we share a Coca Cola ice cream float staring into each other’s eyes. Okay, so maybe I watch too many movies (especially GREASE way too many times), but I do think growing up in the time of poodle skirts, saddle shoes and dressing up for school in long dresses sounds fabulous! Therefore, when I spotted this 50s-inspired “Soda Fountain” dress, I had to have it! Paired with pearls and heels below, I wore this little number as a PLAY style, but also ended up wearing it to work with a cropped cardigan and cute ballet slippers last week. I actually received many compliments at work and a couple people even asked me if I was January Jones, haha…hey, I will take that compliment any day!

So now I’m in the mood tonight (it’s Friday night here in Malaysia) to watch a good old movie. I’m thinking “To Catch a Thief” because it’s also one of my favorites. What’s your favorite old movie to watch on a Friday night?

Hey, so I’m not the only one who thinks she was born in the wrong decade?? I’ve always thought it would be great if we could take a vacation to different time periods. I too, am a huge fan of anything “old-fashioned” (music, movies, fashion, way of living, etc.) and also day dream of living with my husband and children in the 50s. I also would love to go back to the Jane Austen days! *sigh* if only…
You wear the dress beautifully, by the way. It’s on my “wish list” for modcloth.
As for my favorite Friday night movie? Anything with Cary Grant, Rogers/Astaire, or Kathryn Hepburn in it.
I’m so glad you stopped by the blog Jamie…thanks for your comment! Yes, Friday night movies are the best…especially when it’s an oldie.
Love this look, especially with the braid! Never can go wrong with a braid!
It is so nice to see a lady in a dress! You look as beautiful as Grace Kelly.
Beautiful fashion is timeless. I remember my mother wearing a dress just like yours around the house. I thought she was beautiful and you are too!!!
