Known as the coldest and most unforgiving side of a mountain, The North Face, is where the sun does not shine. Ironically, the idea for The North Face company was born on a beach in California, where the sun always seem to shine. It was there in 1966 that two hikers dreams to open a shop became a reality and in 1968 the designing and manufacturing of the brand The North Face, consisting of technical mountaineering apparel and equipment, began. By the 1980s, The North Face became the only suppiler in the U.S. to offer a collection of high-performance outerwear, skiwear, sleeping bags, packs and tents and as the company continued into the next decade with their innovation of Tekware™, The North Face brand became the go-to brand for outdoor enthusiasts. The research and development process alone is extremely impressive and I have no doubt that The North Face company will continue to grow in popularity through the next 40 years. Their mission afterall is, “Never Stop Exploring” as they are committed to “push the limits of design, so that you can push your limits outdoors”. So why am I wearing snow boots and posting about The North Face living in a tropical climate? Well…I guess I just missed the snow. It may sound crazy, but I do! Not to mention that it wasn’t that long ago that I was wearing these boots and trudging through blizzard conditions back home. Thank goodness for my warm North Face boots!
Oh and if you were wondering what does The North Face logo mean? It’s an interpretation of the Half Dome, a granite rock formation in Yosemite National Park.
