Designer Spotlight-Kate Spade

I think the first time I heard the name Kate Spade was in New York City’s Chinatown as some woman called out to me, “Do you want to buy a REAL Kate Spade bag?”  I stopped and looked at her merchandise when I began to realize that the lady who just purchased a bag next to me, didn’t even have the Kate Spade name attached to her purse.  “Whoops, the sales woman called, I forgot” as she reached in her fanny pack and produced a fabric sticker showing the words “Kate Spade” and literally stuck it to the front of the lady’s purse.  “There you go miss.”  Oh my goodness, these weren’t REAL after all, haha!  Whatever the story of how I first learned about Kate Spade, I have definitely grown to love Kate Spade products over the years.  From her shoes to her purses and of course, her cute little dresses.  This is my first ever Kate Spade dress and one that makes me feel fun and flirty…it’s such a playful, yet graceful design.  Kate Spade started out 18 years ago in 1993, when Kate Brosnahan, a former accessories editor at Mademoiselle magazine, designed a handbag she had been wanting but was unable to find…and the rest as they say, is history.  You can read more about the story of Kate Spade and shop online here or visit one of the hundreds of stores worldwide (there are even 89 boutiques in Asia).  Here you will see my Kate Spade candy-striped dress paired with some nude heels and a coral Kate Spade summer bag to brighten up this cloudy afternoon in KL.
