A few months ago, my family and I had the chance to visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Thailand. Located about an hour and a half ride from Bangkok in the Ratchaburi province, the Damnoen Saduak Floating market is one of the largest and most popular floating markets in Thailand. We hired a ride to the location and then were ushered into a motorized boat where we zipped in and out of small waterways crowded with tourists. It was my mom’s birthday and one she will never forget…what an amazing experience to see the people selling fruits, vegetables, souvenirs and even cooking inside their boats along the waterway.
Entering the market area…
Ladies cooking in their boats and selling satay.
Traffic Jam
Selling spices and souvenirs
Of course my Louboutins joined me!

“BEST OF” LIST (SUGGESTIONS) – FLOATING MARKET, THAILAND
1.) Make sure you get to the floating market early in the morning. It opens at 8AM. It gets very hot as the day goes on and filled with tourists, so go early!
2.) If you want to buy some food or a souvenir, make sure to bargain, bargain, BARGAIN! They always hike the prices way up! And have fun, don’t let it get you upset…it’s all a game.
3.) Some tours let you get off the boat and explore, others don’t. We stayed in the boat the entire time, which we preferred (it was more fun shopping on the water), but ask the tours to ensure you’re getting what you want.
4.) On the way back to Bangkok, stop at the Rose Garden and enjoy a delicious lunch alongside the river and watch the Thai Cultural Show.
Wow!!!! What a wonderful birthday trip for your mom!!! HA!
Really cool. Thanks for sharing!
love this post! That would be so fun to go to a floating market!
