Spotlighting Diane von Furstenberg by wearing a pair of her shoes is absolutely lovely, but in the same breath, I should be wearing a DVF dress instead. After all, dresses are what Diane von Furstenberg is known for and what launched her career some 40 years ago. Arriving in New York in 1970, Diane von Furstenberg brought with her a suitcase full of dresses she made – wrap dresses that is! Creating the wrap dress for women launched a movement around the globe and also launched this special lady’s career in the fashion business. After selling over a million of her wrap dresses, she landed on the cover of The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek receiving the title of “the most marketable woman since Coco Chanel”. Wow! And the rest is history (read more about her life here). Today, you can find the DVF brand being sold in 66 countries worldwide selling anything from her amazing clothing line, shoes, handbags, small leather goods, scarves and eyewear to fine jewelry, watches and luggage. Not to mention her home collection including tabletop pieces, bedding and rugs. What am amazing life Diane von Furstenberg has led…I wouldn’t mind walking a day in her shoes.
