Spotted-Raybans

Going incognito!  Everyone at some point or another has felt like going incognito.  Whether you are having a bad hair/makeup day, whether you are just not in a social mood, or even sometimes to avoid something or someone, ha!  In today’s style, wearing my hat, popping my collar on my jacket and sporting dark sunglasses, I felt like I was going incognito, but for no specific reason at all.  And what better accessory to own to go incognito than a pair of great sunglasses?  That’s why I love my Raybans!  They can be dressed up or dressed down and seem to match with any style I’m wearing.  Therefore, I chose Raybans as number 72 of MY ONE HUNDRED and this week’s DAY style while on an afternoon stroll with my hubby and Lucu through the gardens of the city.

NUMBER 72/100 – RAYBAN

Thanks so much for following along and I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  Stay tuned for lots of style posts next week and a special anniversary edition post!  If you haven’t already, I would truly appreciate your support by liking Wrinkled Chiffon on Facebook!  xo Grace

Travel-Maui, Hawaii-Whale Watching

THE PICTURE OF A LIFETIME…that is what I was able to take while whale watching in Maui this past February!  From late November to early April, humpback whales migrate from the Alaskan waters, where they spend the summer months feeding, to the hospitable waters around the Hawaiian islands to spend the winter season mating and giving birth.  They travel an incredible 3,000 miles of ocean in less than two months!  These amazing, gentle giants can be seen from all the Hawaiian islands, but most of the humpback whales seem to congregate in the waters off of Maui…specifically along the south and western shores where we took our whale watching excursion.  I hope you enjoy my pictures below.  Happy Thursday!

The mother with her newborn calf.  At birth, the calves can weigh up to 3,000 pounds and measure between 10 and 15 feet in length.  An adult humpback can grow to more than 40 feet in length and weigh more than 40 tons!

They were everywhere!

And now…the MONEY SHOT!!!

SPLASH!!!

Bye bye.  What an unbelievable, unforgettable experience in Hawaii.

Fun Fact:  The humpback whales are called “kohola” by the local Hawaiians and are treated with great respect. Some Native Hawaiians believe that the kohola is an aumakua, or family guardian, so they have high regard for these special visitors.  Because humpback calves are actually born in Hawaiian waters, the whales are considered kamaaina, or native born.

The Piggie Went to the Market

Lately, I’ve been stuck inside with rainy weather, but this past weekend I was out and about with the hubby and my little Lucu.  Saturday afternoon we braved the intense heat and headed over to the Kowloon side of Hong Kong.  It’s amazing how different the ambience, food and overall feeling differs from Hong Kong Island.  After exploring the fabric market, we made our way to an interesting noodle shop (more on that next week) for lunch.  Along the way we passed by a sad little (well BIG) piggie, which I wished I would have seen after we ate.

Next, we jumped on the MTR back to HK island where I spotted a unique cameo couple and took a quick pic.  My hubby has been researching tailors here on the island, so we were headed to a famous shop to begin the process of creating a bespoke suit.  I plan on detailing this process in full!  Then back home to get out of the rain and enjoy some warm, homemade cookies!

On a side note…I need to start Instagramming more, ha!  Happy Wednesday!
