Designer Spotlight-Lindsay Phillips

Ever tire of your same ole summer flip-flips?  Well Lindsay Phillips made it so this will never happen with her fabulous interchangeable flip-flop straps that you can “switch” with your mood, your occasion and your own personal style!  Labeled “Switchflops“, these colorful and creative flip-flops offer interchangeable straps creating over a 1000 different ways to update and change your style!  No wonder they are called the shoes with infinite possibilities!  Lindsay Phillips, the brain and talent behind this creation, came up with her idea during high school when creating a pair of ceramic flip-flops for an art project.  Today, the Lindsay Phillips brand not only sells flip-flops, but she has expanded her products to include ballet flats, bags and scarves with lots of fun snap-ons!  To be honest (like some other items in my closet), I’ve had these flip-flops for quite some time and hadn’t brought them out until this trip.  I’m so glad I did, because not only were these the perfect footwear for the beach, but their super soft, comfortable material and stylish look made them great for sight-seeing and lots of walking around the islands.  I hope you enjoy today’s DAY style featuring my Lindsay Phillips flip-flops, today’s Designer Spotlight.  What a perfect item for the upcoming spring/summer season!

Beach Waves

Although we’ve seen some amazing surf in Hawaii, these beach waves I’m speaking of are more of the wavy-hair kind.  Today, I let my hair dry “a natural” and let the salt and the surf take it over to create some beach waves.  I hope you enjoy today’s PLAY style post.  Happy Wednesday!

Travel-The Best of the Big Island, Hawaii

What a wonderful time spent on the Big Island in Hawaii, aka Hawaii island.  This is a list of my favorites and top things to do on the Big Island, after all of our research, planning and the time we spent exploring.  I hope you enjoy!

1.)  Try some local cuisine…the fresh fish is amazing.  At this little “hole in the wall” restaurant, we tried the Hebi.  It was “Totally ONO!” – or delicious in Hawaiian!

2.)  Hunt for turtles.  After stopping for a bite, we walked down the path right next to the restaurant, and it led us to this little cove.  Unfortunately, we didn’t arrive at the best time…but some friends we met at the hotel spotted some big turtles right here the very next day!

3.)  Visit the Volcanoes National Park, as posted about here.  We took the Twilight Volcano Tour.

4.) Take the road (the only main road) completely south to enjoy a beer at the Most Southern Restaurant in the U.S.  Stop at the Painted Church along the way.

5.)  Hike out to the Green Sand Beach…we hope to see this next time!

6.)  Try the Kona Coffee, as posted yesterday.

7.)  Enjoy the sights along the beach…we visited The City or Place of Refuge.

8.)  Rent a car and drive!  Driving up and down the coast of The Big Island is the best way to see it and realize all of its beauty!

9.)  Hike/Drive/Take a Tour to the top of Mauna Kea Summit.  If we had more time, we would have loved to try this tour.

10.)  Relax, enjoy the beautiful weather, sit on a beach and watch the sunset.  They are just beautiful anywhere in Hawaii!
