The stylish baguette

In the French mindset just returning from Paris and reliving our day in Versailles yesterday, I thought I would post about baguettes today.  All over Paris you see people walking around the city eating and enjoying bread and others walking around with a long baguette tucked under their arm, opposite from the other arm carrying their beautiful, designer bag.  I thought this stereotype of carrying baguettes around the city was left for the French romantic comedies, but this really does happen!  But instead of posting about the type of baguette you can eat…let’s talk about the type of baguette you can style!

The baguette bag was named after the famous French staple, not because its long and slender shape like the delicious bread, but because it can be tucked under your arm just the same.  This week Fendi celebrated 15 years of their baguette bag by displaying their most colorful and decorative versions through a store window in Paris.  So in honor of this celebration, I thought I would show you some of my favorite Fendi baguette bags.  Which one is your favorite?

Happy Tuesday!

Let them eat cake!

During our recent adventure to Paris, we took a day trip out to Versailles (more on that later this week in my Travel Thursday post).  What an amazing place to visit!  Before our French travels, this was one of the only ensembles that I picked out and planned ahead of time.  In my mind, I dreamed of wearing this beautiful floral dress while walking through the gardens of Versailles in the warm summer sun.  Unfortunately, I didn’t plan for the weather to be so cold when we arrived in Paris!  Who would have thought it would be rainy, damp and freezing in the dead of June…but that didn’t stop me!  That morning I awoke with hopes of sunshine to come later in the day, zipped up my floral dress and grabbed my heels.  Luckily, I did bring a sweater and scarf just in case…boy, am I glad I did!  So here are some of the photos we shot in my summer floral dress while freezing in the gardens of Versailles…smiling trying to stop my teeth from chattering.  Hey, it’s all in the name of fashion!

I hope you had a great weekend!

Designer Spotlight-Ray-Ban

Listed as number 23 in My TOP 25 Wardrobe Essentials posted earlier this year, Ray-Ban sunglasses are a must-have style accessory.  Founded in 1937, the American brand Ray-Ban was originally introduced for the US Army.  The actual Ray-Ban sunglasses were created a year before the company was branded when an American test pilot, Lieutenant John A. Macready complained that the sun had damaged his eyes after returning from a balloon flight.  He contacted the company Bausch & Lomb asking them to create a pair of sunglasses that not only would protect his eyes but would be stylish as well.  The patent was taken out and the Aviator was born!  Then in 1952, Ray-Ban created another style, the Wayfarer (the glasses I am styling today)!  These were made with plastic frames and became instantly popular.  Today, Ray-Ban is still one of the most popular brand of sunglasses in the world.
