Spotted-Essential Makeup

Without your essential makeup, how can you complete any style?  Well, I definitely need my essential makeup, even if it’s just mascara, concealer and blush to make me feel a little bit more refreshed and ready for DAY, WORK or PLAY!  That’s why Essential Makeup is highlighted in today’s post and this week’s number 29 of MY ONE HUNDRED.  Below, I listed some of my favorite makeup essentials and also highlighted a PLAY style wearing my box pleat Bermuda shorts and animal print blazer.  I paired the shorts and blazer (a great summer night style) with one of my favorite chambray shirts, so versatile and classic!  Add some classic heels, a clutch, your favorite accessories and you’re ready to go out with the girls for a night of cocktails.  Happy Friday!

NUMBER 29/100 – ESSENTIAL MAKEUP

img_6979My essential makeup items include:

Mascara – MAYBELLINE…more in THIS POST
Quick Corrector (concealer)CLINIQUE (which they recently discontinued!  My mom went to the mall for me in the US and bought enough to last me a couple years, ha!  Thank goodness for my mom!)  Soon, I hope to find another brand I love as much.  But for now, this quick corrector is the best I have found for under eyes – it’s creamy, no caking, stays put all day and even during sad movies.
Foundation – I don’t use foundation everyday, but for an extra base on my face to keep out of the sun or when I’m going out at night, I use CLINIQUE’s Superbalanced Makeup.  I have heard that Lancome and Chanel are amazing as well, but I have only used Clinique for years and never really branched out much.  I hope to try some others when I get back to the States.
Translucent Powder – Not only is powder amazing for setting your makeup and blending in the foundation on your face, but living here in Malaysia, I am constantly applying powder to get rid of the “Malaysian-shine” as I like to call it.  Again, I like CLINIQUE, but Covergirl has great powder, along with Laura Mercier and Bare Minerals.
Blush – I’ve used CLINIQUE for years, but I also love NARS Orgasm, Lancome and Tarte.
Lip Gloss – To be completely honest, my favorite lip gloss is regular Vaseline.  It’s the best for your lips!  However, there are tons of other great lip glosses out there!  Let me know your favorite, if you have one.

In the summertime back home and everyday here in Malaysia, I LOVE BRONZER!  I never used to wear it, but now it’s the perfect addition to brighten up my face on these warm days, especially for days that you don’t feel like applying your foundation or blush.  My favorite lately is NARS. Sometimes finding the right colors and types of makeup for your face can be tricky, especially if you have sensitive skin.  As a suggestion, try doing some research online, reading through makeup blogs and forums and asking your girlfriends questions.  You can also go into your local department store and ask to have your makeup professionally applied as you try out some new brands.  Have fun with your makeup and find what’s right for you!

Travel-Burma/Myanmar

Happy Thursday!  For the past 5 days I have been here…

img_7615

traveling with my husband throughout the country of Burma, also known as Myanmar.  Although I was a bit apprehensive about this trip, it was my husband’s birthday wish, so I was the supportive, understanding wife and went along with the adventure.  It ended up being an experience that I will never forget the rest of my life!  Here are just a few shots of things we saw throughout our stay.  In next week’s travel post, I look forward to explaining more about our adventure, where we traveled, stayed, what we ate and the people we encountered.

Designer Spotlight-Amrita Singh

My first encounter with Amrita Singh was when I purchased these bangles.  Everywhere I go I receive compliments on them; they have definitely been a great addition to my arm candy as seen here, here and here, along with many of my other style posts.  Amrita Singh, the woman and designer behind this collection, studied the intricacies of Indian art through travel and independent work…this is where she draws her inspiration for her artistic and beautiful jewelry designs.  Today I styled an Amrita Singh bangle for my WORK style.  I love the artistic and unique design, perfect for adding a little something extra to your style for any occasion.
