Pinning! Yes, I joined Pinterest…FINALLY, I know! And now of course, I’m addicted, just like everyone else. I just wish I had more time in the day to PIN, ha! If you are new to Pinterest or haven’t heard of this craze yet, let me introduce you…
Pinterest is a “pin-board style social photo sharing website”…and recently named the number THREE most popular social media network site in the US, behind Facebook and Twitter. WOW! The site allows users to create and manage their own theme-based “boards” for image collecting. You can pin images from anywhere and everywhere, whatever inspires you – travel, food, fashion, amazing photography…the sky is the limit! You can either start by pinning images you see from other sites or you can browse other pinboards on Pinterest and “re-pin” those images to your own collection. Pinterest states that their mission is to “connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting”. It’s almost like scrap-booking, but virtually. And, Pinterest isn’t just for photos anymore! The company recently announced that users can now pin videos on the site – Vimeo videos. Soon Pinterest will take over the world, so you better check out this site and see what it’s all about.
So how do I get addicted to pinning too, you ask? Well, Pinterest is “by invitation only”, but you can easily request an invite from the site in order to gain access. The turnaround is pretty quick and soon you will be accessing your own boards and pinning along on your merry way. Remember, you will log-in to Pinterest using either your Facebook or Twitter account, so start there, if you don’t have an account yet.
